About
It all started …
Born in the late 1960’s, Clyde Lawrence was named for his grandfather, who served in the Marines in the South Pacific theater during WWII. Although they were not close, he has always held a great respect for his grandfather’s courage and willingness to serve his country.
Clyde was raised in the state of Washington, where he established himself as an academic, rather than an athlete, which most young men tend to prefer. He married his high school sweetheart, Liane, who gave birth to their first daughter at the tender age of twenty. Working as one, they were able to overcome the challenges of providing financially for the family, going to school, and holding multiple employment positions while they prepared for Clyde to enter medical school.
Thirty years into their marriage and twenty years into Clyde’s medical practice in the field of Obstetrics and Gynecology, life finally slowed down enough for him to pursue his previously-suppressed passion for self-expression through literature. Having consumed an inestimable number of novels and nonfiction books, he set out to establish himself as a creator, rather than just a consumer, of substantial literary works.
As an author, Clyde feels that what allows him to stand apart is the emphasis he places on character development and dialogue. Like so many other aficionados of well-written stories, he believes that true connoisseurs of meaningful literature should insist on well-written primary characters who provide entertainment to the readers while maintaining the attributes of realism and extraordinary, but not superhuman, humor and wit.
Now that he has entered the arena of authorship and publication, Clyde’s intention is to pursue the art of literature with an enthusiasm previously reserved only for that involving his roles as husband, father, and physician. Please keep an eye out for future novels and short stories, which he hopes will entertain, intrigue, and inspire his readers.
